Phoenix's West Side Mall, Open Every Day

Diverse shopping, a packed food court, and fresh finds at 7611 W Thomas Rd since the neighborhood grew up around it.

About Us

Over 13,000 Phoenix shoppers have weighed in, and Desert Sky Mall keeps pulling them back. One reviewer put it plainly: they left for five years and came home to find new jewelry boutiques, fresh ownership on familiar storefronts, and anchor stores like Dillard's and Curacao still holding court. That kind of loyalty doesn't happen by accident.

This is a mall that reflects the community it serves. The West Phoenix corridor is one of the most culturally rich stretches in the metro, and Desert Sky leans into that fully. You'll find national chains alongside locally rooted stores that cater to the tastes, aesthetics, and traditions of the surrounding neighborhoods. The food court alone draws regulars who've been stopping in since their teenage years, drawn by a range of flavors you won't find at a cookie-cutter suburban center.

Located at 7611 W Thomas Rd, the mall sits at an easy crossroads for residents across the west valley. Whether you're hunting for a gift, updating your wardrobe, or just grabbing a plate of something good, there's a reason people keep circling back.

What We Offer

Desert Sky Mall brings together retail, dining, and entertainment under one air-conditioned roof, a genuine relief during Phoenix summers. The tenant mix spans fashion and footwear, jewelry, electronics, beauty, and home goods, with a strong lineup of stores that speak directly to the diverse tastes of the west valley.

The food court is a destination in its own right, offering a wider variety of flavors than most malls its size. Shoppers also enjoy the arcade, a hit with families looking to extend the outing. Specialty retailers throughout the mall include culturally focused boutiques, national chains, and jewelry stores that have recently expanded in number and variety.

With free parking, a comfortable indoor environment, and a layout that's easy to navigate, Desert Sky makes the whole trip low-effort and high-reward. Open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 9 PM and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM.

"Definitely a much older mall and more catered to the Hispanic culture. Many of the stores in the mall are chain stores or national chains? However, many are focused on more culturally, diverse and catered to the surrounding population. Water. The food that's offered in the full court are also of Latin origin, so if that's your thing by all means you will enjoy this. There are many discount stores but it's usually very crowded and loud. So if you have any children with sensory needs, I would avoid this stores and this mall all together. They do have bathrooms but there aren't very many so please be sure that you use the bathroom before you go as not all of the stores allow access to the customers. Again. It can be very crowded and if you do not like crowded, please avoid it. Anytime on the weekend. Go during the weekday during the day when there is less traffic. If you have different preferences as far as more comfort and more modern, this is a fairly older, more culturally diverse location."

"If you’re looking for a shopping experience that feels community-focused and diverse, Desert Sky Mall in Phoenix is a fantastic choice. Here is my breakdown of what makes this spot worth the visit: Impressive Variety: One of the best things about Desert Sky is the sheer number of options. While it has the major anchors like Curacao and the Dillard’s Clearance Center, the real star is the diversity of the smaller shops. * The Main Mall: There are over 130 stores ranging from popular brands like Bath & Body Works and Victoria’s Secret to specialty footwear and apparel. * Mercado De Los Cielos: This is a massive "mall within a mall" featuring over 200 small businesses. You can find everything from custom jewelry and western wear to authentic street food and professional services like barbers and tailors. Atmosphere and Cleanliness I was pleasantly surprised by how well-maintained the mall is, especially given its history. Despite being a staple of the West Valley since the 80s, the common areas are bright and tidy. Note: The mall recently underwent repairs after a heavy storm in late 2025, and the management has done an excellent job restoring the facility. The floors are polished, the food court is kept clear of debris, and it feels like a safe, cared-for environment. Friendly, Bilingual Service The "people factor" is where Desert Sky really shines. Because it is a fully bilingual center, the staff and shop owners are incredibly welcoming and accommodating. Whether you’re chatting with a vendor in the Mercado or getting help at a kiosk, there is a genuine sense of community. The hospitality here feels much more personal and "local" than what you’d find at a typical high-end luxury mall. Summary: Whether you're hunting for a deal at Dillard's or looking for unique cultural finds in the Mercado, Desert Sky Mall offers a clean, friendly, and massive selection of shops that cater to every budget."
